BREDA’S INDUSTRY INSIGHTS

The difference between decluttering and organising

Many people confuse decluttering with organising, but they are actually two very different skills. Where organising is putting systems in place for the items you love and want to keep, I see decluttering as the ability to process and “let go” of clutter – that which doesn’t serve you or make you feel good. I’ve worked with so many clients who are excellent organisers but find it very difficult to declutter! It’s this small but vital distinction, along with countless other misconceptions and misunderstandings about decluttering, that I’m so passionate about sharing with my professional students and lifestyle-brand clients. In this way, their understanding of decluttering can make a real difference in the world.
